First are some paintings by the late Martin Zipin (1920 - 1991). He painted in a wide range of forms and created his own painting style, which he dubbed "the positive image." He also painted objects, often on a textured surface like burlap, and then cut out the images to achieve a three-dimensional effect. He did the framing on all of the following pieces. This is a print titled "Patriarch" by Martin Zipin. The title, his signature and the number 20 of 50 are written on the bottom in pencil. to striking image of a Jewish person. The face is actually similar to his own, and perhaps reflects his father. The image is in excellent condition. It is 21" high by 16" wide, and is framed and matted under glass. The Barker, frame 32" by 18 1/2 ", image 26 1/2" by 13 1/4", oil on artists board. The subject is a carnival barker or ticket taker. It was done in the early 1960's and is in excellent condition. This charcoal drawing of a woman's head and shoulders is a haunting image done with a few different shades of charcoals. It is signed what appears to be Trent Acosta, '64 and is matted and framed under glass. The piece itself is in very good condition although there is some dirtying on the mat. Here is a folk painting from either Haiti or the Dominican Republic. It was done in water color on artists board and is in a metal frame under glass.
